I am attempting to use a Digi Portserver TS MEI to connect to a Cisco switch's console port. This would replace the well known powder blue cable. I am using RS232 dip switch settings.
I have a lot of Digi RJ45 10 Pin bare wire cables, and cannot find a good reference to crimp a RJ45 8Pin connector to the bare wires.
Here is what I think I need to do, but would like someone to tell me if I have made a mistake.
"10Pin #" "10Pin Label" "Converted Name" "8Pin Label" "8Pin #"
1 >> TxD+ >> RI >> N/A >> N/A
2 >> TxD- >> DSR >> DSR >> 7
3 >> RxD+ >> RTS >> RTS >> 1
4 >> RxD- >> GND >> GND >> 4
5 >> RTS+ >> TxD >> TxD >> 3
6 >> RTS- >> RxD >> RxD >> 6
7 >> CTS+ >> SG >> N/A >> N/A
8 >> CTS- >> CTS >> CTS >> 8
9 >> GND >> DTR >> DTR >> 2
10 >> SG >> DCD >> N/A >> N/A
I created this by first looking at the 10Pin RJ45 to get the label. Page 30 from http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/90000253_G.pdf
I then used the Pin # to get the converted signal name for each pin from http://ftp1.digi.com/support/cabling/conversion.pdf
Lastly I matched the converted signal name to the name / Cisco pin # from http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/90000253_G.pdf page 27.
