Connect WAN hangs after prolonged signal loss.

We opened a brand new Connect WAN Edge 10 device from Digi. We placed it on a t-mobile account and the device took off and was working nicely with very little configuration.

However, we knew we were deploying this at a remote site with poor cell signal so we simulated a loss of communications by putting the device in a box after communications were established.

The device hangs when left in this condition for a few hours. It doesn't hang (and recovers nicely) if left without signal for a few minutes.

We tried changing timing settings on the device for the reestablishing PPP and for resetting the modem and the entire device. None of these timings helped.

We verified the firmware is the latest firmware posted on Digi's site. (The device is brand new as of late Feb 06)

When hung the reset button on the device will cause it to restart without problems.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like this issue might require some testing, so it would be best to either call into Tech Support and open a case, or create one via our online support request form. The Tech Support phone number is 952-912-3456.

We are having the same problem with a ConnectPort WAN VPN.

I opened a case on this but got no solution until now.

While waiting for a fix we installed timed switches on each devices to powercycle the device on a regular basis.

Will this problem ever be fixed?

We've got the same problem on several Connectport WAN VPN Devices. The system for restarting the device is not working as it should be. the device doesn't come online again after a soft reboot. restarting the device manually works but is not an option ?
