3G bandwidth

This question is in regards to a Digi Connect WAN 3G on the US ATT 3G network. In comparison to a Sierra Wireless 881 PCMCIA card using the same SIM card at the same physical location, available bandwidth for the up connection is considerably slower. Download is consistent at 1100 - 1500 bps where upload seems to peak at 300 bps on the Digi Connect WAN. The 881 card constantly has 1100-1500 both directions.

Is there something that I can do to change this in the Connect WAN? A symmetrical connection is desirable for this application.

The Sierra Wireless 881 PCMCIA card is a HSUPA card, which will allow for faster upload speeds than the Connect WAN 3G. The CWAN 3G uses a Sierra Wireless MC8775 Mini PCI-E module, which is a HSDPA card. HSDPA cards cannot match the upload speeds of the HSUPA cards.

In addition to Zach's comments: Digi is working on support for an HSUPA PCIe mini-card module. At this time we do not have a release date set, but hopefully by early 2009. The module in the Connect WAN 3G is upgradeable. There will likely be a nominal fee for the upgrade.
The ConnectPort WAN VPN model A300 supports the AC881.
